POLICE ACADEMY ...Restaging The Police LIVE!
Il gruppo POLICE ACADEMY si è formato con lo scopo ben preciso di non essere una semplice “tribute band”. I Police sono per noi IL gruppo di riferimento musicale, ascoltando i Police ciascuno di noi ha iniziato ad appassionarsi alla musica e al proprio strumento.
La nostra intenzione è di riproporre il live dei Police, riportando alla memoria gli anni in cui erano il gruppo più famoso del mondo. Venendo ad assistere ad un nostro concerto potrete rivivere l’atmosfera ed il sound che i Police inventarono miscelando in modo incredibilmente efficace il punk, il rock, il reggae e la psichedelia.
L’impostazione della formazione originale è rigorosamente rispettata (bassista cantante, chitarra, batteria), così come la ricerca sonora e interpretativa. Non assisterete al concerto della solita cover band: il nostro live show ricrea l’energia del punk ed il ritmo del reggae con accuratezza e maniacale rispetto delle canzoni originali. Il significato di “restaging” è proprio quello di voler riportare sul palco un live set fedele e coinvolgente.

The POLICE ACADEMY isn’t a simple tribute band. Infact the Police are to us THE MUSIC BAND to be, and it was by listening to their music that every one of us started to appreciate this form of art and started to fall for each one’s instrument.
Our intention is to reproduce the Police live, reliving the years when this was the most popular band. Listen to one of our concert and you will live again the same atmosphere and sound that the Police created by melting in an incredible way punk, reggae and psychedelic.
The line-up is absolutely the same as the original one (singer/bass player, guitarist, drum player) and the same for the sound and the interpretation. It won’t be the same cover band concert: our live shows look for the energy of punk and the rhythm of reggae with an absolute respect and precision of the original songs. The mean of “restaging” is specifically the one to reproduce on stage a live set trustful and amusingly involving.

Roberto “Big” Conti – voce e basso (singer/bass player)
Bassista dall’età di 16 anni, solo più tardi, a 26 inizia a cantare, militando in alcune formazioni locali come cantante/bassista. Nel 1998 Inizia a collaborare con la Biba Band, un tributo ai Weather Report composto da molti musicisti fra cui Elio, Christian Meyer, Faso, Paola Folli, Vittorio Cosma, Paolo Costa e molti altri, dove si esibisce in diversi jazz festivals e manifestazioni a livello nazionale. In particolare, nel 2002 partecipa a due concerti, a Roma e a Milano, tenutisi in memoria del grande Alex Baroni (anch’egli già membro della Biba stessa). E’ anche il cantante dei Phazeez (quelli con il kilt!), la “house band” delle trasmissioni Absolutely 90’, Absolutely Star e Absolutely ‘80 in onda su MTV e condotte da Giorgia Surina. Roberto presta inoltre la sua voce in diversi spot pubblicitari trasmessi dalle principali radio nazionali. Dal luglio 2005 è nei POLICE ACADEMY.
Bass player since the age of 16, starter to sing at the age of 26 partecipating in some local formations as a singer/bass player. In 1998 starts the collaboration with Biba Band, a tribute to the Weather Report composed by many musicians such as Elio, Christian Meyer, Faso, Paola Folli, Vittorio Cosma, Paolo Costa and many more where he partecipates to different jazz festivals and national manifestations. In 2002 he takes part to a cuple of concerts one in Rome and one in Milan, in memory of the great Alex Baroni (him too, member of the Biba). He is also the singer of Phazzee (the ones wearing the kilt!), the “house band” of the MTV’s Absolutey 90’, Absolutey Star and Absolutey 80’ hosted by Giorgia Surina. Roberto also gives his voice to many radio’s. Since July 2005 he has taken part of the POLICE ACADEMY.
Milly Fanzaga – batteria (drums)
Negli ultimi 15 anni, oltre che a svolgere l’attività di insegnante di batteria all’Accademia Musicale di Bergamo e Treviglio, Milly Fanzaga ha avuto l’opportunità di proporsi in diverse situazioni sia live che di studio recording ed ha partecipato a tutte le attività concertistiche dell’Accademia, compresi stages con artisti di livello internazionale.
Dal 1993 ha fatto parte del gruppo rock SOS, con il quale ha inciso due cd e partecipato a diverse trasmissioni televisive, vinto parecchi concorsi di livello nazionale e tenuto almeno 200 concerti.
Dal 1997 ha poi collaborato con il gruppo pop rock di Odette di maio, SOON (Polygram-Universal), nella realizzazione di provini e come batterista duranti i concerti tra cui si ricordano nell’ottobre 1997 quello per l’inaugurazione dell’emittente televisiva Match Music, tenutasi all’Arena di Verona, che vedeva la partecipazione di ospiti quali Pino Daniele, Elisa, Negrita, Timoria ed altri artisti della scena musicale italiana.
Nel novembre 1997 inoltre partecipa – sempre coi SOON – a SAN REMO GIOVANI, in diretta su RAI 1 presentata da Fabio Fazio, dal Teatro Ariston di Sanremo. Nel Maggio 1998 partecipa a “SAN REMO ROCK”, sempre all’Ariston di Sanremo, con diversi ospiti di livello internazionale trasmesso da RAI 2. Dal 2000 in poi ha suonato come turnista con cover band di vario genere su tutto il territorio nazionale, comprese alcune session di registrazione in vari studi.
Dal 2001 ha fatto parte del gruppo pop rock PUNTOG BLU registrando un cd, prodotto da Giorgio Canali (ex CSI) realizzato da Terzo Millennio e distribuito da Self. Si segnalano con i PuntoG Blu partecipazioni a trasmissioni televisive su MTV, RETE A ALL MUSIC, ROCK TV, la partecipazione alla trasmissione “Lucignolo” trasmessa da ITALIA UNO e inoltre a “Destinazione Sanremo” trasmessa da RAI 1.
Del 2003 è anche il loro singolo per una campagna pubblicitaria della Renault, passata su tutti i canali televisivi e network radiofonici.
Dalla fine del 2003 Milly fa parte della Police Tribute Band POLICE ACADEMY.
Dall’inizio del 2004 Milly Fanzaga è endorser della UFIP (piatti da batteria) e dal 2005 endorser della VIC FIRTH (bacchette da batteria).
I started studying drums in the early ‘80s at the Accademia – Centre for Musical Studies – in Bergamo. After studying there for about eight years, I entered the same school as a drum teacher, in Bergamo as well as in the school detachment situated in Treviglio (bg), where I’m still titular teacher for drum courses.
Since 2003 I am also teacher for modern drums and member of the well known international circuit of the “YAMAHA” teaching methods for music education.
I have participated in several trainings and seminaries with: Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Gregg Bissonette, Horacio Hernandez, Mike Mangini, Dennis Chambers, Marco Minnemann, Steve Smith.
In the last 15 years I had the chance to propose myself in many live and recording situations. I have participated in several concertistic activities of the Accademia, including also stages with international renowned artists.
Here some of the most significant stages:
1993 I started my experience with the rock band “SOS”, with which I recorded two CDs and participated in several TV-shows. We won quite a lot of musical contests on national level and performed at least 200 live shows.
Starting from 1997 I collaborated with the rock pop band “SOON” (Polygram-Universal), and this was our activity with the band:
From 97’ to 99’ we performed about hundred concerts, mostly at big national festivals and major live music clubs in Italy.
October 1997: concert for the opening of the TV station “Match Music”, that took place at Verona’s Arena together with other participants such as: Pino Daniele, Elisa, Negrita, Timoria and other artists of the Italian music scene.
November 1997: we took part in “SANREMO GIOVANI” (4 million spectators), a live TV show on the first Italian national channel presented by Fabio Fazio from the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo.
Mai 1998: we took part in “SANREMO ROCK” from the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo with several artists of international renown (RAI 2).
All this has been followed by other TV appearances on different channels and TV-stations such as: TMC2 (help, roxy bar), MTV and other private TV stations.
Since 2000 I play with different occasional formations, with cover bands of various kind on the whole national territory, including some recording sessions in different studios.
2001 I played with the rock pop band “ PUNTOG BLU” (Self), this has been my activity with the band:
2002 I recorded a CD produced by Giorgio Canali (former CSI), distributed by Self.
We participated in several shows broadcasted on TV channels such as MTV, RETE A ALL MUSIC, ROCK TV. Important to point out is our participation in the TV show “Lucignolo”, that has been broadcasted on ITALIA UNO, the first Italian commercial TV channel, and furthermore our participation in “ Destinazione Sanremo”, which was broadcasted on RAI 1 TV.
2003 we recorded a song for a Renault TV spot, that was broadcasted on all national TV channels and radio networks; all that has been followed by a lot of live shows often on the occasion of big happenings.
Since the end of 2003 I play with the Police Tribute Band “POLICE ACADEMY”, with which I play in the major live clubs in Italy. With this band we are moreover experiencing also international approval for the fidelity with which we manage to reproduce the mythical trio. As for me, I can say that I am really satisfied, since Stewart Copeland has always been for me a great source of inspiration.
2005 I started to play in the musical project “L’America di Odette”, the unplugged trio of the singer Odette Di Maio (former Soon). This live had first been proposed in the USA; now we re-propose it successfully also in Italy.
I’m moreover the drummer of the pop rock band “LAVINIA’S”, headed by the lead singer Riki Anelli, who participated in the Sanremo’s Festival in 2001 and otherTV-shows.
Since 2004 I’m endorser for UFIP CYMBALS.
Since 2005 I’m endorser for VIC FIRTH, drumsticks.

Since 2006 I’m also teacher and agent, in the region of Lombardy, for the nationwide circuit for drum courses: “SCUDERIE CAPITANI” National Drum Academy.
Michele Rota – chitarra (guitars)
Inizia giovanissimo lo studio della chitarra classica sotto la guida del maestro Carlo Lamberti. Sviluppa inoltre una grande passione per le tecniche di registrazione e manipolazione del suono, cosa che gli ha permesso di lavorare come fonico in vari studi, situazioni teatrali e spettacoli all’aperto.
Contemporaneamente si dedica come chitarrista elettrico e bassista in numerosi gruppi cover e di musica propria, facendo numerosi concerti su tutto il territorio nazionale. Dal 2001 ha fatto parte del gruppo pop rock PUNTOG BLU , registrando un Cd, prodotto da Giorgio Canali (ex CSI) realizzato da Terzo Millennio e distribuito da Self. Si segnalano con i PuntoG Blu partecipazioni a trasmissioni televisive su MTV, RETE A ALL MUSIC, ROCK TV, ITALIA UNO e inoltre a “Destinazione Sanremo” trasmessa da RAI 1.
Dalla fine del 2003 Michele fa parte della Police Tribute Band POLICE ACADEMY, con la quale suona nei maggiori live club d’Italia riscuotendo consensi anche a livello internazionale, per la fedeltà con la quale riescono a riprodurre il repertorio del mitico trio.
Since a very young age he started studying classical guitar taking lessons from Carlo Lamberti.
He also began to develope an interest towards recording techiniques and sound manipulation, and this has given him the chance to work as a phonic sound in various studies, theaters and outdoor shows.
Meanwhile he takes part as a guitarist and bass player to different cover bands and own music, playing for many concerts all over the nation. Since 2001 he has taken part to the pop rock band PUNTOG BLU recording a Cd, produced by Giorgio Canali (ex CSI) realized by Terzo Millenio and distribuited by Self. To be added partecipations on T.V. programs such as MTV, RETE A ALL MUSIC, ROCK TV, ITALIA UNO and RAI 1.
Since the end of 2003 Michele has joined the POLICE ACADEMY, the tribute band to the Police, with whome he plays in the most important live clubs of Italy having also success in other countries for their faithful way to reproduce the Police style of music.
